Kermit's Other Flowers

Miss Piggy joined the blog follower recently so all say hi to Miss Piggy!!! Thought it only fitting to focus a post upon Kermit's other roses,  well flowers, well indoor plants of sorts. Kermit, the resident indoor pot plant collector was pictured in a recent post with his current floral friend, the ranunculus. But this wasn't his first foray into pot hoarding. He got his first go in indoor por maintenance with a succulent:

He also has a fling with the daphne, but that was short lived and remains unphotographed. He even doted on this random other indoor plant that my Mum grew for me. (in this pic it is behind him, but you get the idea.)

Kermit also isn't the first non-plant dweller in the balcony garden. Remember the lego?? (you can see it in the title picture of this blog.)  Well there are some new adornments in the garden, gifted to me by a lovely cousin. Behold the dragonflies, one with the lemon tree, the other at the base of an apply tree.

Looks like I need to do some weeding! Adds a bit of fun to the balcony garden don't you think.

TIBG goes to England

In just about 3 hours I'll be on a plane to the UK!!!!! It is conference time, so me, my trusty history paper and I are jetting off to speak with like minded souls. A stroll around Kew Gardens, a dance across Hampstead Heath (visiting my old pub where I worked in 2003 on the way) to Brighton for the 7th Biennial IABA conference. After my stint in Brighton it will be off to fair Vienna for snitzel, noodles, and some frivolity with an old friend. A side trip to Budapest will seal the deal then it is back to Oz.

Never fear, the balcony garden is in safe hands, Mr E will be looking after it, sampling its wares and keeping it healthy for my return. The one thing he wont be doing is blogging about it. So for 3 weeks this blog will be on a little hiatus.

One other bonus of this trip - DUTY FREE CAMERA!!! So when I return I will be able to film the BG in good quality.

Harvest Monday Macarons

Harvest Monday and so much to report but virtually no photos of it. I picked so much basil, rosemary, coriander, yellow carrots, snow peas and lettuce over the past week but ate it all before photographing it. Here is a stock photo from last week to tide you all over.

The balcony garden keeps me in most of my veggie needs and added well to the things I baked for my 30ths birthday over the weekend! Indeeded almost everything listed above went into goods for the party. Coriander in the marinated chicken sticks, yellow carrots on the dip platter, rosemary and basil on the mini pizzas and more. What a great party. So sorry I don't have pictures of the harvest, but I hope the picture below of the multicoloured macarons I made to celebrate the occasion will make up for it.
